We’re happy to announce our rejuvenation project at Cypress Ridge Elementary School. This school has done awesome things with gardening over the years and we’re happy to reignite this program.
First, we amended the beds with soil, courtesy of our friends at Black Kow. The kids did a great job weeding, mixing and tilling.
Now that they have the new soil/compost added, it’s time to add water.
Thanks to Mister Landscaper, we have a super easy irrigation system to install. So easy, a kid can do it!
Well, they are amazing. Capable. Can-do. And very excited. Who wouldn’t be?
We have success! And who doesn’t like water on a hot Florida day?
Next, we planted seeds/seedlings. Forming teams, the students chose a mix of broccoli, cabbage, carrots, radish, lettuce and the like.
These are cool season plants and will thrive in our climate from October to April. Come spring, we’ll add a mix of warm season crops, like peppers, tomatoes, melons and more.
Can’t wait for harvest! Stay-tuned.
