In addition to their existing culinary garden, the horticulture students at Leesburg High are getting into action and expanding their school garden. Their goal is to provide fresh produce for the culinary students. I like the sound of that! And now, they’re adding a tower garden.
I bet they’ll be amazed at how quickly fresh greens mature in the tower compared to the greenhouse. Stay tuned!
A few years back, we welcomed the Leesburg High School Culinary Arts School Garden. Located right outside the doors of their café and surrounded by olive trees and lush rosemary hedge, these students will be cooking with seriously fresh produce. As a beneficiary of their culinary skills, we have savored the delicious food created by this team for our recent farm-to-table fundraising event.
The kids can cook! They were definitely a hit with our guests and now, they’ll be growing even more delicious produce for the locals who frequent their school café.
Upon the generous delivery of Black Kow compost, no one was afraid to get their hands dirty when it came to spreading the “black gold,” though gloves are highly suggested. Wink, wink.
The joy shining in their eyes is one reason we work with students and school gardens. It’s a natural combination!
Can’t wait to check back and see what they’re going to grow and how they’re going to prepare it! Stay-tuned as we watch them grow…
