Lost Lake Elementary’s school garden is on its way. The garden beds are in and filled with beautiful Black Kow compost and bedding mix.
With spring break around the corner, preparing the beds now will pave the way for irrigation and planting upon their return.
As they mix and blend their new soil, dreams of peppers and squash will fill their minds whilst they toil and tumble during their vacation!
Next up: Irrigation. Thanks to the generous donation of irrigation supplies by Mister Landscaper, the students were able to install the irrigation for their school garden.
With a brief instruction session (and a little assistance from the garden coordinator), the kids were able to take it from there.
That’s why we LOVE this irrigation system. It’s super easy to install–even a kid can do it!
Once the irrigation is installed, it’s time for planting. Let’s start with a few seeds, courtesy the Baker Creek Heirloom Seed Company.
One lesson and these kids are good to go!
Students also transplanted tomato, cucumber and watermelon seedlings. FUN!!
Can’t wait for harvest!!
