Round Lake Elementary is ready to join the school garden fun! Now, these students have an existing garden, but it needs a little TLC.

The raised beds need to be weeded, amended with fresh soil and compost courtesy of Black Kow, some fresh seeds and seedlings and these kids will be on their way to lush, green, gorgeous school garden beds. First, weeding the beds followed by a good tilling of the existing soil.

Smoothing and leveling the soil is important, as the students prepare for planting. It can be done with lovely tools…

Or by getting up close and personal! Wear gloves. It will save your fingernails!

For the perfectly maintained school garden, these plants will need water. What better way to keep them happy than with a new irrigation system from Mister Landscaper? Important. Spring break is around the corner and these kids will be out and about with family and friends.

Wow. These kids have been doing a SUPER job in the garden. Squash, lettuce, peppers, tomatoes–oh, my! And as they grow, these students know how to pinch those “suckers.” #tomatomaintenance

I love learning new things that add to our sustainability. Like propagation.

The middle school students learned to cut, coat with root tone and water well. These African Blue Basil will be ready come fall garden season.

Great lesson to share with the folks at home. Free plants for everyone! And a super start for next school year’s garden.
