Sawgrass Bay Elementary is still growing strong. They had to relocate their garden site, but that hasn’t slowed them down one bit.
We begin with a lesson on the importance of soil for our plants. Next up–let’s fill those beds!
Each first grade class will have a turn filling their raised bed. Oh, what fun!
These students became experts in no time, mixing compost and potting mix.
Gorgeous, rich nutritious soil, courtesy Black Kow. Thank you — we LOVE our sponsors!
I can’t wait to get growing with these students. So much enthusiasm!
Everyone demonstrated excellent teamwork as we filled the beds with soil.
And we were thrilled that our Lake Live students were able to join in the fun. January = Planting.
And planting = reading. The students have taken to the garden to read to their plants. Scientific studies show that plants grow better in the company of lovely music and delightful children’s voices. It’s true!
Can’t wait to see how they grow. Stay-tuned!! And don’t forget, visit our MeWe page for more photos and fun.
