Webster Elementary has an existing school garden in need of amendments and a little TLC. Enter The BloominThyme Collaborative and some energetic students and this garden is back in business!
Talk about Weed Warriors–these kids are super heroes! Seven raised beds were thoroughly weeded and amended with Black Kow compost.
All it took was a little teamwork. One-two-three–delivered!
Next up, a lesson on how to till and why it’s important and these garden beds were good to go.
In January, these students will begin planting their school garden beds and not longer after that–consuming the glorious harvest.
Good thing these beds are conveniently located just outside the cafeteria! You know the students will be devouring their crops come harvest time.
They planted mustard, lettuce, broccoli, kale, radish, sugar snap peas and more. With spring around the corner, these students have decided to add beds to their existing garden. Awesome!
First they lined them and then they filled them with Black Kow compost and bedding mix.
Let’s get growing with a few transplants for the new garden beds…
A few seedlings for the older garden beds, plus an array of fabulous seeds!
Of course, don’t forget to water them in. These new plants need a strong jump start for the spring growing season.
